Heater/ac Switch Problem

Hey guys..
I have a 91 Maxima SE.. and a year ago..i had a problem switching from heat to cold and viceversa...
I went to this mech. and he said that the wire that makes the switch was bad ..
and he then just put his hand under the dash (passenger side) below the glove compartment..and switched it to cold..

NOW its winter...and im frezzing my butt off.. cuz i cant get it to heat..

Please give me some instructins to follow..i tried opening the act thing but i think the guy messed with it from below the dash..
PLZ HELP..

PLZ LET ME KNOW WHAT SHOULD I DO TO GET IT BACK ON HEAT..WHAT WIRE OR WHAT SWITCH IF ANY. should i push or pull

thanks
Z

Well, I think your mechanic should've repaired the cable, instead of just switching it permanently to cold! I mean we shouldn't have to reach under the glovebox to adjust the temperature...

i sorta had tha problem you have, i just can't switch it back to cold all the way...it stops at warm....anyhow, i tackled tha problem today...like everyone says, there is a cable switches the cold to hot lever....i don't know how to repair the cable yet, but i can try to direct you on how to switch it from under the dash like the mechanic did......look under the passenger side of the dash...if you look towards the firewall of the car and slightly to the left, you will see a silver pin (kinda tha best way i can describe it) and a silver cable wrapping around it...you can grab it and pull it towards and away from you (can't remember which turns to hot and cold) and that will move the switch....to clarify one thing, you're lookin under the dash, but not direclty up under the dash, its kinda like you're lookin behind center console (behind the HU and stuff), but you'll see tha silver pin not too far from the firewall....good luck, and hope that helps!!!
