HELP! Very Rough idle, stalling wont go above idle speed
HELP! Very Rough idle, stalling wont go above idle speed
HI
I have a maxima 89. Yesterday i was in a Staples parking lot, and out of the blue i noticed the car wont accelerate and it had a rough idle and tended to stall on me. I put it in N and tried to rev, nothing was barely idling...i put it in R and managed to back up for like 20 sec then it died completely
I towed it back home and did various test on it..fuel pressure, coolant temp sensor, spark, injectors, crankshaft sensor, distributo cap, they all seemed to be fine
Every time is start it in seems it has partial combustion, and it doesnt want to accelerate at all. if i unplug the MAF sensor wont even do that.
what can it be, anyone have any similar BAD experience??
thanks!

Re: HELP! Very Rough idle, stalling wont go above idle speed
Sounds like an air leak in the intake between the maf and the TB. Leaks after the maf wouldn't do anything.
I never had this problem on the maxima, but on my stanza comming off the stock intake tube is a vacuum hose that goes to the fuel pressure regulator. If you disconnect the hose the car would run very very rough or just shut down quickly. Maybe it's one of these two.

If you do a search on stalling you will find a lot of information regarding your exact problem. But to give you a direct solution, the problem is with your MAFS... the square box/connector situated just left of the air filter. In my case the connection to the sensor was loose, maybe there was even some wire breaks. I solved the problem by cleaning the connectors and properly reconnecting the sensor. Also I adjusted the wires by taping them together to avoid current interruptions. Since - drove hard to Lodi NJ and back to Brooklyn without an incident.
