MB Quart installed and Valentine 1 report

I just received and installed my front speakers this weekend. MB Quart Premium 6.5" Components. I modified the enclosures for the front Bose speakers to fit these and sealed them in to get better bass response. They sound really, really good. I got them fron www.ikesound.com for $250 shipped 3 day air. A great deal since street price is ~$400. They will sell you cheaper than listed price if you reference their ebay items.

Also, i was driving up to Yosemite this weekend and gave my Valentine 1 a good test. It alerted me to three cops before I even came around the corner. Very cool... I don't have any experience with any other detectors, but this one is great....

i am running a Pioneer Premier 50W (RMS) X4 amp for the main speakers that i bought used off a guy on ebay two years ago. It is about 4 years old (i think), but keeps me happy. I am also running a Hifonics amp for my sub, and bridged i think it is 200W. I haven't done any alternator mods, as my system is mainly for moderate loud listening, not any sort of competition or cruising. If you are looking at putting in a serious system, i would get stiffening capacitors (search for these or caps), between 0.5 and 2 farads (follow the directions on install!!!), instead of doing an alternator mod. expect to pay ~$75 to $200 for a standard type capacitor (it looks like a big tube) If you do this right, you shouldn't need any alternator mods. Oh, and don't get small power cables. A fried has about 1500W in his car (all phoenix gold) and he put in the PG 15 farad cap with no electrical problems--it ain't cheap though.
Andrew
BTW, if you know all about caps, just ignore this.

well i had a whole setup in my old volvo 85 740 with stock 70 amp alt.....running a rf 500a2 ~600rms at 4ohm and rf 400.4 50x4 rms with 1 farad cap but now I have spent more money and bought much higher output amps alpine mrv f540 they rate at 12 and 14.4 50 ,80 per channel respectiveley. At my amp using voltimeter I am at about 13.5 volts which I cant complain about but I know it will be much more of a load when i add my jbl bp1200 1200x1 @2ohm so I dont how much of a power draw it will be evne thought it uses class d circuitry. tom from mralternator sells new rewound alts 140 for our car 200 shipped and you dont have to send in your core. I will decide after buying amp whether to do it or not. but my first priority in all my cars have been sound before anything else in terms of mods. You picked a good choice for 4 chan the old premiers are rock sold dont overheat will put out rated power and then some and very accurate xovers. sorry this is so long but car audio make me ramble.

No he didn't and those kappa's aren't as good as the mb premium series. You think you bought the kappa perfects but you probably didn't.

you're wrong man. the premium line does contain a three way setup, I think it is the psd 316 (I have the psd 216), but most of their current equip uses a two-way setup. The 3-ways run $320 on ebay, mine were $220 plus S&H, etc. check out www.mbquart.com to get all the answers.
