Are SS Brake lines worth it?

Hey all I wanted to purchase a set of Cross-drilled and slotted brembo rotors and metal matrix pads. I have the 89 max SE and I wanted to know would it be better to change my brakes lines to SS or keep the OEM ones? I dont plan on changing the Brake booster either? Let me know!!! Plus I dont race the car so high speed braking wont be needed

Yes. SS brake lines make a HUGE difference. Drastic difference in pedal feel.

Where can i go to get a set of SS lines? Until I change the lines would I benefit from using the mogul 600 synthetic brake fluid?

The benifit of the fluid won't be felt much under normal driving conditions, but is an improvement. Don't use it if you have ABS. If you want SS brake lines, I will sell you some for $179.00 if you are interested send me an e-mail.

That's how much I sell them for. That's the price I was suggested to sell them at by Goodrich. Where do you get them for $110?

Calm down, buddy. I'm not trying to rip him off, that's just what the suggested price was on them . I would like to know where to get them for $110. I need to call the dist. about that, $70 is a pretty big price difference.

I thought that nopi just sold the lines and fittings. If that's the case, that's why they are $110. I'm not sure, though. The kit I get is a ready to install kit with all the lines already cut to the right lenghth and fittings already fitted. I don't know, I'd have to contact nopi.

No I've always seen the Goodridge kit for around $100, already cut to length with fittings, ready to install, etc.

In fact I believe I got my Goodridge lines for like $95.

Cool. Thanks, I'll stop selling them if I can't give a better deal than that then...

Uhhh, why will you be spending $300+ on pads, rotors, and lines if you'll never need them?
if you never race, OEM or even $17 parts store pads and "Made in China" rotors will do just fine.

Not to mention the "cheese grater" effect or the fact that cross-drilled rotors are a LOT more prone to stress fractures, and I haven't seen one good report on their actual performance

Well really it will be about 190 for both, wanted the rotors for better braking and looks. With bigger tire and rim set up the braking distance for my car has increased, and living in NYC that is the last thing ya need!!!

?? Are you rollin on dubz or what? I have 17" wheels, and with the tires they are the same height has my stock 15s. The difference is in a smaller sidewall on the tire, but that doesn't effect braking distance, does it??

that is a good questions?? But I have really noticed the common factors with a thinner side wall like quicker steering response etc.... But along with all thee the above good factors I have noticed a longer brake distance!!! Seriously!!! I have new pads and rotors on the car no leaks in the brake lines??? But will need to do more investigation of the circustances?? I am sitting on 17's the 2k2 6 spokes 215/50/17 mounted on sumitumos HTR+!!! My OEM tires are 15's 205/60/15 so it is a 2 size jump.

Well I was going to say that perhaps your wheels are just heavier than the stock ones (common) but you're on 2k2 17s which I believe are close to the same weight as the 15" SE 3rd gen alloys so that work. Maybe because of rotational mass increasing inertia... where's the physics guys at???

yeah thought about the inertia concept also!!! Could hold a lot of wieght on my situation?

As long as a fuel line is only broken in one place, you can replace that line with a fuel resistant rubber hosing and fuel line clamps up to 4.5" I believe. 10 minutes...

On my year 89 the hose that I need to replace in right underneath the air intake plenium? Was looking over some sites that refer to removing the fuel injector rods that obviously I would need to remove the intake component. But what about just the rubber hose that connects directly to the fuel injection rod?

I'm not exactly sure I'm understanding what you're referring to, but I think that you should just be able to replace it with another hose, granted you use the proper fittings and hoses type. They sell replacements at nearly any auto parts store. I've replaced them on my brother's blazer...

I will try to find the page a guy gave me on changing the fuel injectors in which you have to remove the fuel line hoses to both fuel injection rods. Sorry if I am not being complete!! I know you should be able to change the lines pretty easily, but the way mine are situated and the location i can't release the clamp that holds the fuel hose connecting it to the injection assembly will try to explain in more detail once I get the pictures for you!! Thanks!!

here are the links that a guy sent me in the forum look over them and see if you can make heads from tails of what I am trying to say?

About 2 feet:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread...+fuel+hose+feet

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread...threadid=108504

Figure on another foot or so if you go ahead and replace the two lines attached to your fuel filter as well.

This write-up should help since taking the intake manifold off is necessary on the VG engine:
