oh man... another one gone. how's the gt compared to the max? i heard the 4.6's in those things were heavier than the ford 427 which is why they are slower than they should be but i could be wrong

I'm sorry....
one of my friends at work bought a 92 GT with a shift kit, headers, and 373 gears....

he decided he wanted to race me on the way home from work... right about the time we hit 130mph (and I was about 6 car lengths ahead), he blew three brand new coolant hoses, and we had to park the car on the side of the highway.. we were there for 5 hours replacing those damn things.

I will NEVER buy a ford simply because of stuff like that.

*cough*slow turd*cough

My friend is a 5.0 freak...hopefully you dont become delusional like the rest and think it is the fastest car on the road, cause they run low 15 1/4... good luck!

Ummm, I do believe that a '92 Mustang is the old, boxy style. They didn't put 4.6L in that body style, only the 5.0L HO, 5.0L, and the 2.3L.

Brian

PS is it stick or auto??

ok guys....

Matt...good luck beating me.....I don't think your max is a 13 sec car.............j/k

Paul....naw, it's blue, 5-speed, cold-air, headers, h-pipe, flos, 373 gears, msd ignition, roller rockers, short throw shifter, dropped, center line chrome rims.....it runs, but I'm not the greatest driver when It comes to a manual. It's in real good condition...needs a clutch and tires...that's about it. I'll have fun w/ it for a while and the good thing is that it already has some mods, so I don't have to spend all my money so fast

That is a good buy. Those mods + traction should have you running mid-high 13s all day long. Is your timing set at 14*? Get some N2O and runs in that bish .

i wasn't sure of the year they put in the 4.6's but that is what i heard about them. The 5.0 i heard were a lot better but still not that fast.

hmm... well... hmmm...

I know a guy that's got 475K on his Ford E-150 van with the 5.4 liter V8.

Personally, I have a 1993 F-350, dependable every day! And I have a 1992 Maxima SE, I'll probably never own a Nissan again, VTCs, A/T, A/C problems on a friend's max. suspension creakes, on and on and on simply because of stuff like that: Quality, and the lack of. Both vehicles have the same milage, and are driven in the same fashon. I'd take a Ford any day of the week.

That looks like a 5th gen prelude... so it's gonna be heavier than the 4th gen plus it's gonna take a hit with its obd2 system. Since I know the 4th gen h22a model runs low 15s stock... I'm gonna guess the 5th gens run mid 15's stock?

Although the 92-94 SE has VTC problems if you replace them and keep your oil changed chances are you will not have them again. Trust me, Nissan is 3X as dependable as ford. We have a company van that has 60k on it. It has already went through 1 transmission, axle, ecu and heads.

I'm not a big fan of the old "wife beater" body style mustang, they're quick and cheap but others have already pointed out there's reliability and other issues. All around I'd prefer a VE 5spd but for straight line speed, you can't beat a 5.0 Mustang, tons of mods and common so plenty of people can work on them. If you can scrape some cash together running a turbo/sc/nitrous will get you some crazy speed.

And you have that wonderful V8 sound... I drove my buddy's 2000 GT around for an hour or two and getting out realized that we never once touched the CD player.

A Mustang wouldn't be my first choice but good luck with your new ride, try not to get into too much trouble with it

Getting into trouble in a RWD V-8 is pretty easy I'd imagine..I'd be putting rear tires on it every 3-months! TOO much fun.
