swap the sockets (back plate) also. the back plate 92 and up lights don't match up w/ the 89-91 lights. there's like a ribbing that blocks it. unless your handy w/ a dremel swap the sockets too.

I pulled it off at a junkyard for 50 bucks. It was only the driver side brakelight housing. Because mine was smashed.

So now i have one odd looking miss matched taillight. But it was better than the 100 for a brand new one

What junkyard? where? I have tried all the local junkyards in the metro area and have even gone as far as asking a mechanic in a shop if I could buy some from someone's car he was fixing... Can you please let me know where you found your lights? Thanks!

go to http://www.copartfinder.com. you'll find something like 300 3rd gen maximas that are being parted out.

i had a 93 GXE back plate and they don't go on my 91 lights.
maybe 91 to 93 would've been ok.

Re: CoParts...

if you want, check your local junkyard and bring your backing plate....that would be the EASY way
