ARGG....Dyno results inside>>>

numbers were very disappointing considering my mods. my car seemed to run fine - no noise or tapping. drove the car for 4 hours b4 putting it on the dyno... dunno if that effected anything.

lordrandall had 163hp stock (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=128478)!

time to diagnose my engine

oh yeah, car has 145k

Re: ARGG....Dyno results inside>>>

Hmm your car has lots of torque from 2500-3500rpm and then it nose dives. Looking at the shape of Matt and Randy's dyno, you either have non functioning/grounded VTCs or a bad knock sensor. Your car has alot more bottom end power then it falls off drastically. Also the VIM is working be cause the power is pretty flat up top. If you have grounded your VTC's try ungrounding them, also get another knock sensor. If I was to extrapolate the torque curve to the same shape as other VE's. You'd have near 180wtq and 173-178whp.

EDIT: Here is Johnnymax's results with grounded VTC's http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....no#post920671. Notice a trend?

Isn't the factory rating of 190 hp engine only, not front wheel hp?

So that also means the honda v6 doesn't really put 250 hp at the wheels either

I've got about the same mods as you, with more mileage... we run very close to the same numbers.

+- a couple horses isn't bad, especially considering both of our cars have over twice the mileage that Randy's has.

matt, your dyno curve looks pretty smooth...

on my chart, everything seems right b4 3.5k but after that my car fall flat on it's face so i don't think it's the condition of my engine. if i did have a "tired" engine, by numbers would be low throughout the rpm band. my torque drops almost 20 ft*lbs! and at 4.5k, my hp is relatively low compared to the other dynos i've seen. i'm going to do a little a reading on testing vtcs. mine don't make noise but after this dyno and what nismo87 is saying, i'm skeptical whether they are working. i had problems with my VI a while ago a found out that the wire from the ecm to the pvc was short.... i wonder if my vtc aren't gettig signals from the ecm.

i'm in the process of getting a hold of a fsm but if anybody knows how to test the vtcs (ie. signals the ecm sends to the vtcs, etc...) please let me know. thanks.

I have most of the standard mods and run about the same numbers. BUT, I paid extra to have it hooked to the wideband A/F though the 02 sensor. My a/f was okay at idle but as soon as I throttled, the a/f went WAY rich. I'm losing a good 10hp on this alone. I put in a new 02 but haven't got around to redynoing. Point being, if you're on your original 02 sensor, it's probably toast.

168.6 FWHP and 173.3 FWTQ respectively, with only intake and exhaust work at the time. I like throwing in that .6 and .3 just to make it look that much better

speaking of which you never posted the chart. However poorcollegeguy's car is definitly suffering from either severe timing retard or bad VTC. His car peaks at 3500rpm and then nose dives, other VEs peak at 4000-4200rpm and smoothly taper off.
