Startup story ... Happy Ending

So this morning I try and startup my car and all I hear is Vrummm Vwher Vwher Vwer ... the engine was doing something but it wouldn't "turn over." Something just wouldn't catch...

I hadn't driven my car for about a week and lastnight started it up just to move it a foot so my wife could fit her car in behind me. Yes, I know I should have taken it around for a spin but I was lazy and didn't want to loose my spot.

The radio, lights worked so it wasn't the battery... I assumed it was the starter or some other component thats involved in the ignition process.

After I called the AAA guy and he showed up, I asked him before he towed it, if he could just come listen to the engine, maybe he could diagnose it on the spot. He had me keep the key turned in the ignition for a good minute and a half until the engine finally turned over and the car started.

My problem? He said the engine was flooded with gas. I assume this is because of what I did the night before. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I guess I should never turn the car on just to move it a little bit after a long sitting without taking it for a spin around the block...

Maybe this will help someone else in the future.

Re: Startup story ... Happy Ending

the car should be started and driven around for a little while, enough time for it to warm up and stay properly lubed
