tranny question..........?

I have a 89 Max SE and I have the feeling that within a couple of years I am going to need a new tranny and I have an automatic. Would there be a chance to switch to a manual tranny or maybe a used one? What would the price be like if I were to get a manual instead of a new automatic?

We should get a recorder for repeats check the search there are alot of step by step instructions for this one. Plus its gonna cost you more to change it then to fix it trust me.

Yeah, replacing will cost you alot. My '89 GXE (Auto) original tranny had 145 some odd miles on it when it started to become noisy, being quiet only when in neutral and disengaged. A new tranny would cost over 2k, and I had it rebuilt for 1,650 dollars by a well known and high quality tranny shop in town, and now runs like it just came off the lot, silent as a moth, and very nice in the powerband again.

I'm getting there

My max is starting to get the tranny blues to. I'm not sure if the cost is worth rebuilding or just selling and buying a new max. I met a guy in class who is going to pick up a 91 GLE for around 2000 grand. Tempting if you can find a deal like that.
