my moaning max
my moaning max
Anyone know why my maxima moans when I do slow turns in either direction? My steering pump was gave out and was replaced about two months ago. There's enough fluid in the reservoir and the lines are ok. Yet my max still moans. Could anything else cause the moan? Does the moan mean this pump is about to die as well? I did a search but didn't find anything useful. The moaning is startin to annoy me. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I asked my mechanic the same question (because I don't know that much). He told me to either deal with it... or bring it in for some bearing servicing. The bearings wear, and so after a long while, they start to "moan" as the power steering rack and pinion works to turn the wheels. All you can do is just keep fluid runnng through your power steering lines to reduce wear as much as possible.
Mine is pretty bad too. It moans when my AC motor is running. I've been running like this for more than 5 months now.
