tinted windows/ inspection

im just throwing this out for you guys for comments, i just got my windows tinted, theyre legal but after my inspection im putting another tint on top, i was talking to a customer at the store and he said that when he had to get an inspection he would use his friends car and swap out the inpection stickers, get that car inspected then swap the sticker back to his illegally tinted car. what do you guys think about that? i know that at least on my sticker there is a bar code, which probably IDs the car right?

I don't how things are in your state but here in NYC, the problem is not inspections but the NYPD. I dont blame them, they're doing their job. Tell you a story... I was at the beach... hanging with some friends... NYPD had a set up a road check right on the exit leaving the beach... stopping and pulling over everyone... checking for alcohol and things like that... I was checked for insurance and other things. I was squicky-clean but my tints were too dark. Legal tints here are supposed to be no darker than 30, meaning that the tints are supposed to allow 70 percent of light through. Mines rated at a 40... black leather on a black paint job didn't exactly help. I haven't been to the beach in 4 years.

here in cal, they check the VIN number, so good luck trying to use a buddy's car to pass inspection.

you could try it, but it you get caught then you're gonna be very screwed...your call if you want to risk it

yeah, im not sure if i would do that, just posting it up b/c i thought it was kind of creative. i live in charlotte nc and its hard to find a car with 35 or higher percent windows, every tinted car i see has really dark tint. from what i hear, even at tinting shops, a lot of the inspection places will pass your car for 60 bucks, im just going to see what my friend does with his 35% and 5% on top of that, his inspection is this month.

Cops in PHX

The cops here seem to have better things to do than bust tint offenders. I wonder what they are up to?

Maybe they have some sympathy since its so dang hot here.

Here in Philly cops will pull you over in a heart beat then take a razor blade to your tint if its too dark . Put a line right down the middle so you have no choice but to take it off or buy new tint. And as far as inspection goes anyone in pa will tell you once them stickers are on the window they arent comming off easy

not tx inspection stickers! they destroy if removal is attempted. Slicing tint???WTF!!! Now that will REALLY pi$$ me off if ANYBODY did that. whats bad about giving a warning then giving a ticket? Wont it scratch the glass in anycase? Thats bs and is very wrong.

Not VA inspection stickers either. The only way to get those off is to scrape them off. Don't know how the cops are in NC but the VA boys will help you start peeling them off right where they pull you over or you get a big ticket amonst other things.

Now in FL where I went to school, they don't have statewide inspections (only Miami and Jacksonville it think) so in Daytona Beach you could tint your back and rear passenger windows how dark you wanted it. THe front is supposed to be 35 but as I said they don't check so guys are driving around with G5 and limo tint.

Here in Seattle where I am now, I don't get bothered
