I think that damn thing was leaking from the get go. Anyway, the shop used a lined flex. Check this, Cattman Y, RT cat, custom cat-back, Y2K muffler, Ball joint flanges and the system is stock quiet. Almost too quiet.

OK, Jeff....explain this....-->

Y2K can vs. 3rd gen can......Is the y2k can just quieter, or is there something else that I'm missing?

Hard to say since it's been a few years since I was stock but if you must have a quiet exhaust, the Y2K one would be the way to go. I mean this set up is about as quiet as it gets. About as close to stock as you can get(if not the same)

So....

why not just buy a new 3rd gen can????

Is this a price thing, or a 'latest and greatest' thing?

Re: So....

Because the 3-gen muffler is not dual chambered like the Y2K ones.

Lined flex pipe

Jeff, I haven't heard of lined flex pipes before. What is the lining made of and whats the cost difference? I have to say I have had limited bees in the can sound with my WarpSpeed y-pipe. If the price is close and our supplier can come up with a lined version, we will look into it. We are always looking for ways to make our exhaust products better. Dan WarpSpeedPerformance

Well the 2k maxima mufflers use a variable pressure valve that is closed under about 2500 rpm for low end torque reasons. The valve opens up another chamber in the upper rpms for hp benefit. If you have ever wondered why the 2k J30 has 5hp more than the maxima for a total of 227, it is because it has a higher flowing version of the Maxima muffler. So if you want more power while maintaining the quiet exhaust I would suggest the Infinity can as you put it. I'm sure Courtesy could get one for you.
