Climate Control not working AT ALL

Hi guys. This is my first post. I have done a search on 'climate control' before posting this, but it seems eveyone either wants to convert or have bulbs that won't work or light up dimly. Well....., mine doesn't work at all.
I just bought this car, and the climate control unit worked fine for a bit then stopped.
Has anyone had this problem? Do I have any option, besides finding one at the wreckers, to fix this?
Any help would be greatly apreciated. If this has been dealt with in the past, then perhaps you could tell me where to look. Thanks in advance.

it's possible that the cable on the back has come unhooked or broken or something like that.

does the slider move more or less freely than it did before?

My climate control is also messed up I believe. Only the little lights on the fan selection and heat/cold slides work. The switch to the far left that goes vertically (believed to be for fan or vent) seems to be loose or maybe even broken inside. Before I used to hear the flaps move when I flipped it now I don't. My a/c doesn't work, but that could just be that it needs charged. But my heater doesn't work either. I can put it on defrost and run the car hard for a mile and some heat will come out of the defrost vents, but cools down when I drive normally. This means that I put all my snowboard equipment on to drive around during the winter and it sucks! Any suggestions?

Slider?? I don't have a slider - mine is the electronic climate control. From the search I did, it seems that most people either have a problem with the fans not working or the lights not working. That's (mostly) not the case here.
All my lights for the switches illuminate fine. The temperature setting display is not functioning, and the fan & mode switch do nothing. In other words, I can't get heat or A/C, and even if I could, I don't know what temperature it's at.
So I ask again...., do I need a new(er) electronic climate control module....., or is there a common wiring / circuit problem associated with these units?
Thanks.

The fuses are fine (according to the mechanic who saftied it - remember I just got this car). What I'm looking for are a few possibilities to focus on when I go to work on it this weekend. I'd like to have this heat and defrost functions working before I put it on the road - esspecially considering I'm from Canada and it's almost December.
Is there a relay for the electronic climate control (I would assume there is)? If so, where is it located?
Does anyone know if the climate control and radio share any common wires? I ask because whoever owned it before put a Kenwood CD in it, and I'm thinking maybe that has something to do with my problem.
