?????
Just for you
Maybe this is why you're hearing different things. The struts in the front are traditional strut assembly, but in the rear you only change the inserts (shocks) not the entire strut assembly.
Ok
When you buy front struts for the "3rd gen" you will be getting the entire front strut assembly
When you buy rear struts for the "3rd gen" you will be getting the strut inserts (shocks) instead
Now for other make/models with 4wheel strut suspension, I'm pretty sure you get the entire strut assembly for all 4wheels whenever you have to replace them. There are a few cars out there with rear strut inserts like ours, Mitsu Starion, RWD Celica, etc.
So whatever price you're getting for the front strut assy and the rear strut (inserts) this is what they include.
