2k muffler install questions

2k muffler install questions
Did a search, couldnt find out any details. I plan on picking up a 5th gen (2k) muffler next week, but had a few questions on install for those of you who have done this:
Does any of the piping coming off the muffler need to be cut? I doubt that the bends would happen to match the 3rd gen and its hangers, but I am not sure.
The piping going into the muffler is 2" if what i read is correct. What size piping should i run from the cat? Would anything bigger than 2" do anything since the inlet on the muffler would limit flow anyways? I would go with 2.25 or 2.5 if it was beneficial.
Resonator needed/preferred? I will be installing warpspeed y and carsound cat at the same time, want to keep it quiet.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: 2k muffler install questions
The inlet of the 2k muffler is not the same as that of OEM 3rd gens. (2k is side inlet, while 3rd gen is center I THINK). I had my mechanic bend an S-pipe to connect the B-pipe to the muffler. It wasn't very hard to do. Leave a short striaght length of pipe coming out of the muffler to give the mechanic some leeway, or better yet leave it all on and let him hack it off at his discretion. The muffler hangers are compatible, though the 2k muffler sticks out a little more than the OEM one and has come a bit loose twice. Just check it every so often. Good luck!

Thanks for the input!
I will plan on having the muffler shop cut the pipe short(near the muffler) and do a custom b-pipe, as well as adjust the hangers so the muffler sits where it should.
Chris, what size piping are you running to the muffler- 2" all the way? Any resonators, or is the muffler so quiet that they're not necessary?
Thanks again,
Tim

There is absolutely no drone to me. But then again, I'm coming from an universal muffler that could set off alarms from a mile away
I miss the deep sound it gave on startups, but thats about it.

Sounds good to me No droning on the highway, right? I love the growl i get with the pop at WOT, but long trips would be a killer with a loud drone... How far from the muffler did you transition from 2 to 2.5"?
Many thanks,
Tim
