help please!!! i can't take this anymore
I have a really bad problem with my car. it has been doing this since June. I have searched and found lots of things on this but no one has described anything like what i have. it does two weird things. the first is when it is idleing when the engine has warmed up, it will bounce rpm's from around 800 to 500, and just keep doing that, there is a few seconds of delay between each time it does this, or if i turn on anything electrical like the lights, roll up the windows, defrost, etc... the rpms will drop to 300 or 400, and the whole car will shake and then the rpms will come back up. the second thing is the car stalls out when i am accelerating. also it has died just sitting in park. but it is a weird stall. for example if i am accelerating and the car stalls and i keep the pedal pushed down, it is like the car isn't in gear and the the engine rpm's just bounce between like 1800-2200, but it doesn't make the car jerk or anything. and then sometimes it will be in gear, and make it jerk back and forth. but as soon as i let off the gas pedal i can push it back down and it will go fine, until the next time it stalls. it could happen 10 times a day or not once, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with temp or climate. i have already put 2 new coils, new fuel pump relay, new fuel filter, fuel injector cleaner, and a few other things. it is weird though. sorry this is so long but i would appriciate any help you guys or gals can bring to my problem. Thanks.

well. . . The rpm dropping when u roll up and window or somthing sounds like u have a bad battery or alternater. Or a bad conection in you charging system. The stalling while driving sounds like fuel pump or injecters thatys all i can think of

I don't know much, but I had a similar problem with my car. The random jerking and such...some days the car ran fine, and other days it jerked, stalled and the whole works.
The dealership changed my fuel filter, cleaned the connectors...ect...
It turend out to be the one of the oxygen sensors (there are two....correct me if I'm wrong) The dealership could not figure out what was wrong because when they hooked the car up to the computer the sensor was not screwing up....
I was ****ed when I picked up my car and the problem was still there. The next day I got a mechanic to drive around with me for 5 min, and the problem happened. Immediatley he's was sure that the one or bot oxygen sensor was messed up. Try that.

I'd have the charging system checked out first. The problem with the RPMs jumping when using the accessories sound like the signs of an alternator going bad. As for the other running problem i'd also check your TPS (Throttle Possition Sensor) on your throttle body. I had a weak connection there and it would sometimes make my car stall when i was taking off and sometimes when i just hit the accelerator when cruising.

You may want to check the gap on your spark plugs for the stalling and jerking. That will also mess with your idle. If that doesn't work, try listening to your injector tic. Maybe you can figure something out there...
Good luck! Post back on what you find so that the next guy who does a search on this can find the info he/she needs.
