Rear Deck

CAN SOMONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE THE REAR DECK OUT OF A 89MAX GXE SO I CAN REPLACE MY SPEAKERS ruckshun@yahoo.com

you have to remove the entire back seat and 3rd brake light assembly and then it can be popped out.
a lot of work if you're not going to install anything spectacular

bah.. 10 minutes, tops.
done it so many times I can do it with my eyes closed.
(and it only takes about 45 seconds after you remove the screws and don't put them back in. )

do you really have to remove the back seat, call me nuts but i dont see any screws or does it just pop out

In the 4 years I've owned 3rd gens, I've only had the screws in them the first few weeks- until I put the stereo in.

The screws just slow you down. The seat stays in place without them. I don't even know why they put them there to begin with. Once you take them out, leave them out.

man and all this time i was concern that the seat will fly out or something. i'll remember this next time i do a system upgrade. damn screws

LOL yeah, they're a PIA.. they do help keep down a bit of the rattling when I crank up the stereo (I've put them back in for short term, only to take them out a day or so later to get to the stereo)..
