I GOT AN 89GXE, I JUST PUT IT ON THE ROAD,SHE RUNS FINE ITS JUST THAT WHEN I REACH 65MPH THE RPMS REACH 5K+ AND THE NEXT GEAR DOES NOT KICK IN.FROM 0-65 NO PROBLEM IT JUST WONT KICK OVER TO THE NEXT GEAR AT 65. DID ANY ONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM? ruckshun@yahoo.com

 

check your shifter bushings and make sure you don't have it in 2nd gear. when the bushings wear out, the indicator will show to be in "D", but the transmission will actually be in 2nd. try clicking it forward one more gear while you're on the road and see if it goes into 3rd gear.

If not, then take it to the shop and save your pennies because it's time for a tranny rebuild.
