The stall speed varies with engine torque.....

The more torque you have at the wheels the higher your stall speed. Protorque told me that I should see around 300-800rpm increase in stall speed. Believe me you will notice the difference. The only problem is that under normal driving your only in 1st gear for like a second. Because you get to 1800rpm so fast the car shifts quickly.

It made my car way quicker off the line. I did race one stock 3rd gen and I put 1.5 cars on him before I got out of first gear! The only bad thing is that since your turning around 1700-2000rpm all the time your city mpg is slightly worse. Highway mpg is not affected, but its a very good mod. The only problem is installation is around $400-700 because the tranny has to be removed. When you install this TC get a new rear oil seal too and install a tranny cooler. Get Hayden model #403 from autozone/pepboys/Orielies and about 4ft of 3/8 hose too.

I haven't been to the track with my car because I don't have enough compression in my #5 cylincer. When I took off my heads to fix my broken studs I let a bolt fall into the cylinder. After I put everything back together it bent my intake valve and put a dent in the valve seat. But at the time I didn't think it would do much, I was wrong. Now instead of having 170psi in all 6 I have 85psi in number #5. Since it needs valve work I just bought another set of heads from a junkyard and have them ported/polished with a 5 angle valve job. I'm also going to install some ISKY cams too. My car has lost alot of power being on 5 cylinders and it runs pretty rich. With the TC you don't lose any torque at all, you gain lowend torque because the increase stall speed allows you to get more torque multipcation. They have always answered my emails and they have this form on their website that you should fill out http://www.protorque.com. What you do is click on the "your specs" part of their menu. Then fill out the information, I believe stock maxima's get around 2000-2200rpm stall speed, the gear ratios are 2.785, 1.545, 1.00, 0.69, final gear of 3.64. For the stall speed your looking for put around 2400-2800rpm or about 300-800rpm over stock. When they return your email they will give you a part number to the TC so you can order from them.

1800 in first gear?!

I NEVER shift out of 1st that low! mine is always 2500+, even when driving with my grandmother in the car. when I switch to "power" mode on my tranny, it wont' shift until 3k+. during normal driving- well normal for me anyway- it will usually shift into 2nd about 3700 rpm and 3rd about 3000 rpm.

just thought I'd throw that in. 300rpm won't give you much change, but 800 certainly will. I've noticed my car bogs off the line until the RPM climb to above 2000, then it hauls ****. I've even known it not to break the tires loose until the car is going 5-10 mph, THEN the tires start squealing and the tach/speedo both jump. ??? weird.

I think it has to do with my TCU's programming. Unless I use more than 50% throttle my car won't rev passed 2500. Here is something else I have noticed with my TC, if I give it around 60% throttle from a stop my rpms never drop below 2100 until it shifts. This is with my car being on 5 cylinders. Imagine what happens once I get my heads and cams installed . Maybe nissan reprogrammed the TCU so that 3rd gens get higher shift points based on throttle input. Matter of fact according to my ECU it doesn't even go into closed loop until the speed sensor is passed 12mph. My car never gets passed 2000 in 1st gear. Maybe I should see if I can get my TCU reprogrammed.
