My 89 won't start/ has no spark

Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I have recently changed the VG30E engine in my 89 with one from a 91. I got the replacement engine from the salvage yard. Prior to installing the replacement enging I replaced the thermostat, water pump and timing belt. Getting the engines in and out was painful. I have everything in and the engine will not start and doesn't sound particularily smooth tuning over. I have checked for spark at each plug and get nothing; yet I have 12V going to the coil. I even repaced the distrubtor with the one from my original engine still no spark.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know that you have probably thought of this already, but you did check to see that your rotor was in place and good? Sorry to say that I have been there and not done that, only to find the rotor sitting on the bench where I left it. Are you sure that the coil is connected well to the cap, and/or that the coil wire is good? At times like these, it's usually back to basics, especially with ignition systems. Don't overlook anything, in other words. Keep checking your secondary ignition, you will eventually find the problem.
