Premium petrol

hey guys, first time posting here, its a great forum!

ive got a '91 maxima with a VE under the hood.

im in newzealand and im just wondering whats the best gas you guys have over there?

over here 91 octane is the lowest grade, 96 is premium and you can get ultra which is 98 octane!

also if i run 98 will i be able to advance my timing to a large degree and still be safe?

highest i've seen is 94 here (sunoco ultra 94)...CERTAIN gas station sells "race fuels".
you can buy unleaded race fuel from a can in 103 octane.
leaded fuel can go up to 120 octane...(NOT TO BE USED WITH OUR CARS).

I wish my old 91 had a VE

but i use 93 octane and 94 (sunoco) once in a while. Never seen anything higher than that tho.

The octane ratings between NZ/Australia and the US use a different grading index (RON vs AKI?). The way I understand it is NZ/91 = US/89, NZ/95 = US/91,92, NZ/98 = US/94.
