prefromance question

I have a few questions

1st i have a 1990 maxima and i was wondering if the stock hp is really 160 i read this a few plaves, and just want to confirm it.

2nd The only really modifications i seen for a maxima like mine is a preformance intake, and exhaust system are there any other major mods u can do, and also how much hp will a great exhaust and a preformance intake add.

3rd i asked this before but didnt get an answer, is it possible to fit a mid 90s v6 3000 in a 3rd gen maxima.

Re: prefromance question

1- yes, 160hp is right

2- yes, there are more mods out there, you just have to know what to look for and exhaust and intake gains add anywhere from 1-15hp depending on what you do

3- yes, if you got money you could fit a 454 in there

well of course ud have to pound out the frame to fit a 454 driveshaft thru that baby

just wondering how expensive it might be to have one put in, i thought a mid 90s enging might fit easy if it uses the same block

I guess you mean the 190hp 95-99 VQ block?? I mean I dunno if it'll be easy or not, its never been done...thus the price would most likely reflect that and be very high! theres various parts to be relocated, ECU wiring, tranny/axle issues and IMO the "cost to HP gain ratio" isn't even worth it...for 30 hp I just don't see the worth in it unless you can get it done for a GREAT price!

ok ur right didnt realize the 95-99 used the vq block instead of ve i just looked at pics really and saw the it still had v6 3000 figured it just might be a worked over version of the 3rd gen engind

well even fitting the 190hp VE motor into your Maxima(you have the VG motor) would fall under the same task as fitting the VQ...

If you want a better engine in there, you can get an imported vg30det...yes, that's a single T...single turbo, dual overhead cam. It is better than the vg30de or vg30dett that was in the later 300zx's.

Here's a pic of the det heads next to the dett heads...the det has bigger ports.

If you don't want to do that option you may want to just look into putting a turbo on your engine. You will be limited on boost since you have nonturbo pistons. If you wanted more boost, you can just get a vg30et from an 84-89 Z and put it in, or just get lower compression pistons. The 88-89 engines were slightly better than the 84-87 engines due to better cooling and floating wrist pins.
