keyless entry pad bad on cold days

On cold days, my 93 GLE Maxima driver's side keyless entry key pad doesn't work. It started off that any key but the ST had to be pressed first, but now almost any key will not start it to work. Another problem (possible unrelated) is that the inside door unlock when pressed will unlock and then lock, unlock and lock. The latter three by itself and only infrequently.

I vaguely recall a relay or control chip might need replacing, but don't know where it's located. How to tell if it's the keypad or the relay or some other problem?

Addition note, the keypad seems to depress deeper on the ST side. Indication the the keypad is off alignment? How to realign if possible? Any chance the keypad mount is just lose?

Problem solved. Entry only via inside door panel. Key pad held in place by 2 5 mm long screws. Only about 3 threads of holding power. Base metal stripped. Filed down the metal ~0.5 mm to better align to outside and filled in hole with epoxy. Reassembled and works great now.
