help on identifying
help on identifying
mom woke me up this morning to move my car so i backed it out the driveway and proceeded to park it near the curb. while walking back up the driveway i looked down to see a automotive belt, snapped, lying on the ground. The part number on it is 11A0965
i looked it up on yahoo and its a v-belt
is it probable to assume that it fell from my car? and what does it do? how much to fix? will i be able to make it to the mechanic with this off my car or will i need a tow truck?
*sigh*
i just wanna sleep.....
any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you've got a thin skin, or can't take constructive criticism, then you might not wanna read what I have to say.
Now, that said.... why don't you just open your hood, look in the engine compartment and SEE where it might go (if indeed the belt came from your car). Look at the A/C compressor, water pump, and alternator, for starters. If a belt's missing from any of those three, I'm gauging that's where it goes and that, in and of itself, will tell you what it does. Replacing it should be a cinch, and shouldn't require a trip to the mechanic (unless you LIKE giving people your money) as it probably only requires you loosening the affected component, sliding the new belt on, and tightening things up.
At least it SOUNDS simple to me... but then again, WTF do I know???
Good luck.
Re: Re: help on identifying
what you said didn't bother me at all
it helped alot.
well when i found the belt, i did pop the hood but i didn't know where exactly to look
all i saw was the one in plain site but at least i know now that there are three belts to look for
as far as replacing it goes, yes i am kinda nervous when it comes to doing anything on my car because with this being my only mode of transportation and my keen ability to fiddle with things and not being able to put em back together i just stay with the basic stuff.
however, i've decided to invest in a FSM (advice courtesy of Matt92se) and see how that all goes.
but thanks for the help.
