Transmission troubles

I need help. I have a 94 Se with 154,000 miles on it and whenever I'm driving I get some pretty hard shifts between 1st and 2nd. Every other shift is fine. But one thing I noticed was that after driving; for a while, about 20 mins. All shifting woes lessen or go away. So I'm guessing the car has to be tranny has to be ran for a while to act right. Does anyone else have this problem?? Any suggestions to make the problem go away??

Also, was thinking of doing a drain and fill on the tranny, but heard its not a good idea if its already having problems. Advice, please....

You should feel lucky! A lot of Auto's here wish for a firm 1-2 shift.
(VB mod)

Diagnosing a tranny problem on the net is difficult. I would take it to one of those places that offers a free diagnosis, and then go to a couple other places and see if all the diagnosis' match up. If the tranny is fine, you can do a flush. A drain and fill does not get rid of all the old fluid. If the tranny is bad, dont flush it. Make sure the ATF level is good, and then start saving for a new tranny.

Scroll down, you'll see it towards the bottom.

As I'm sure alot of you know there is a free and affective way to do this which takes about two seconds I would not recomend doing this for more than a race or two, but on the on the left side of the driver side strut tower there is an electrical connector that you would normally over look it's nothing big. But if you disconnect it it increases the throttle body pressure by about 20 psi. and it will slam into gear. as far as wear on your tranny i couldn't tell you but my tranny is brand new, I wouldn't do it if yours is not in good shape. but i'm going to run a switch to mine from inside my car so I can disconnect it when I'm about to race some one.

You are talking about the solenoid, right?

Hmmm...I bet its there for a reason. I wonder if its for anything other than "luxury" shifts...

Anyone?
