Finally pics of my Stillen wing mounted correctly

I know some were interested when I got the wing a while back. I had to get it fitted to the trunk and then when I got it back my neighbors dog pulled it off the car and messed up the corner. I finally repaired it the other day and mounted it.

and dont make fun of my primer it will be painted in 3 or 4 months.

does this wing bolt to the stock wing holes or is modification needed? It looks like a direct fit.

nope unfortunately it isnt even close. The holes dont line up and the wing itself doesnt fit good. I had a friend do the fiberglass work to get it fitted to the trunk and then I filled in the holes on the trunk and re-drilled new ones for where they should be.

Plan on spending on body shop labor if you get it unless you know someone that can do it like I did. It will be a lot cheaper if you get a GXE trunk instead of the SE one. I was going to fiberglass the clips from the factory wing onto the Stillen one but figured it would be easier and a more secure fit if I just fill in the holes and re drill them.

That will make 3 very similar white maximas if you get the wing and the kit.

Me,Chris and you.

Yeah thats really the way to go. I thought about putting my SE trunk with spoiler on my GXE and taking the GXE trunk and mounting the Stillen wing on it but I didnt want to mess with painting the SE trunk and trying to match the paint...besides my wife doesnt care anything about a spoiler on her car so I am not going to put one on it.

BTW sorry I havent emailed you back about the wing. I put it on the car and it looked too good with it on for me not to keep it.

Is the wing supposed to improve aerodynamics over the stock SE wing??
If not, I dont see the point in changing the wing

it looks better to some people (me)
it's fiberglass, not NERF foam
it's a good replacement for a stock spoiler that's rotting away and separating from the trunk
it's Stillen (so it must be good )

nice work Michael

Eric 2 things
1. it is solid (fiberglass reinforced plastic)and not squishy and it will not come up on one end or rust like the factory ones do. That is important to me since I am spending a lot of time in fixing and re painting this car.

2. although it looks close to the factory wing it is actually much better looking in person and adds a little extra.

Hey some go for looks and not performance. Why would I want to spend hundreds or thousands on a Maxima for performance when it will not even come close to the speeds that I am used to when racing. You see different people have different desires about their cars.

Well as you can see it looks close to factory but with a few differences. It is a little taller and it angles up to the center instead of being straight across.

I paid 205 shipped for it and my friend charged me like 20 to do the fiberglass work to fit it to the trunk. I welded up the holes myself and drilled and mounted it myself also. I really couldnt tell you what it would cost to do all that if you had to pay a body shop but I would say at least 100 or more.

There are some factory replacement wings out there that are cheaper and fit in the factory holes that are plastic or fiberglass.

I went by a shop the other day and I was talking about the stuff I had to go through to get this wing to mount and he said he would sell me a molded plastic factory replacement for 150.

If you want a factory replacement I would NOT get the Stillen. I got it because I have loved it since I first saw it on Stu's car and think it looks better than factory without a radical change.

oh well the wing looks nice but I don't think it's worth the hassle of doing or even paying to get the type 2 wing to fit. I guess I will go with an OEM wing but made out of fiberglass or plastic. The nerf wing on my car is starting to come up on the right side a bit and eventually will come off completely so by summer time I will buy the stillen kit and a fiberglass OEM wing.
