filter relocation success (pics)

some of you mayb have read my earlier thread about trying to extend the wires from the maf sensor and then my engine not starting anymore. read it here well after emailing mark(mtcookson) i realized that not the wire extension but the iacv tube was causing my engine not to start. somehow the ecu knows if the tube from the iacv is connected into the intake or not. so i put everything back together and now i have almost no intake piping.. don't know if this is a good thing or not. it sounds a little louder and feels a little more powerful than before. any comments?

and heres the picture:

i notice u got a foam type filter...might wanna change to a cotton element. my friend got that dragon foam intake on his accord...and the heat of the engine caused the foam to break down and pieced got sucked into the intake. lucky his throttle body stopped it from going any further. just my 2 cents. don't wanna see a fellow max broken down due to it hehe. other than that good job.

Comments...

As long as you did a good job on the wiring, it'll be fine (i.e., using good and appropriate guage wiring, saudering connections, and properly insulating everything). I extended the wires on my MAF and have had no problems during the last year (minus having to replace the MAF itself, which is unrelated to it's relocation).

Pretty cool setup. I was wondering though, with the filter being there, I would be worried about it getting dirty or wet. The battery seems to block most of that stuff when its behind it.

Now, about that poor battery. When you get a new one, please put one of these on...

Thank you come again

I love shadetree mechanics like this. I doubt there will be much gain though. Maybe a tad quicker throttle response. Definately get a cotton filter, those foam ones should be outlawed. Your filter is now closer to the radiator, but I don't know if this matters. It will speed up the breakdown though.
