valve tap

I have a 92 se auto. At 77.6k miles, I started to hear loud valve tap by #2 spark plug. The noise then stop and comes back every now and then. It sounds like it is not getting enough oil. For the past couples of days, it seems to disappeared. I did a search on valve tap and found that it is cause by the infamous vtc. Maybe I am in the denial stage, but can the vtc go bad at such a low mileage? I just want to double check with the expert since I have no experience with vtc. The oil change is done regularly, and I have been using the nissan filter.

Yup they can cause trouble that soon. The #2 spark plug is right at one of the vtc sprokets.

Ok, educate the non-educated. What is the VTC? Because I think I may have the same problem on an 89 SE with 84k miles.

using the search feature at the top of the page shed enough light that would burn you to a crisp. But you have nothing to worry about (vtc wise) b/c they are only in the 92-94se max with the DOHC engine./
