But you don't know if the tape is still ok when the engine is very
hot, for example, in the summer and for a long time driving.

This is the reason I'm not in a rush to replace my tape coils, unless for some reason it start arching thru the tape. For now I rather put my dollars else where were it's needed.

I know is not related to a arching igniton system.

I am one of the owners that had taped coils and replaced them without any noticable difference. I am not saying there isnt one but I didnt feel one. When I took the taped coils out they were still taped so if you use a good tape like 3M then it will stay.
