rear seat removal woes

Hi all,

I stumbled onto this forum today as I searched the net for clues on how to remove the rear seat on my 94 Max.Great site btw!

Anyway,I run the searches and read the FAQ's,then proceeded to remove the rear seat.To make a long story short,I could not find any release mechanism to remove the bottom cushion,so I ended up using a 3ft wrecking bar to literally pry the receiver mechanisms(2) out of the sheet metal floor.Even getting these things out in the open where I can see how they're made,I still can't figure out how they could be easy to release,to remove the seat.

Now,I've got three more of these on the upper back cushion that are in the rear deck to remove,so if anyone knows a simple, correct procedure,I'd sure appreciate some suggestions.

Thanks,
GregB

for the bottom, it should be able to pull right up if you pull at the place where it attaches. For the top part of the seat, lower the arm rest cushion and remove those two pieces of circular plastic. Underneath them will be two screws I believe. Take those out, and then you will have to pull the three things outta the top.

there's no "release mechanism" on those tabs.. they just press in and lock. in order to remove them, it takes quite a bit of effort the first few times. after that, they come up pretty easily.

Yes,you're right about the "force"issue.I tried a screw driver, then a 1ft prybar, then the wrecking bar.Even bent the sheet metal up on one side.

I think i got it's cherry!

Thanks to all for the quick replies, and the link to Craig's site.
