Clear blinker lights - Question! Help!!!

I have a 1991 Maxima SE, and I bought some hyper-white polarg bulbs for my blinker lights. The front ones look fine because the bulbs shine through the clear plastic covers. However, the rear blinkers shine through the yellow plastic covers, so no matter what color my bulbs are, the blinkers in the rear are still going to be orange. Is there any way to remove the orange plastic so that my rear blinkers shine like the front ones do?? Has anyone had any experience with this, or have any recommendations?

Mike

I think he's talking about the blinker in the taillight cluster.

You can take off the taillights and then you can break out the yellow plastic piece and then it will shine white through it. I haven't done it so I can't tell you much more, but if you search, you should be able to find more info; I know it's been posted here before

good luck

So it's illegal to put white bulbs in the rear blinkers? Because it's pointless for me to remove the orange pieces and then put in orange bulbs.

So is it illegal?

Well, check with your state laws, ask a cop or something, that's what I did. In Colorado, it's illegal to have any color for your back blinker except red or amber-yellow. Front ones can only be amber-yellow or white. I went in to ask because I wanted to put blue ones on, but they told me that any visible blue lights will get you pulled over, excluding white lights with a blue hue.

Most states have a law saying that the front turn signals have to blink amber and the rear have to be amber or red. I used to have clear in all my signals and never had a problem. Most of the time cops won't care unless they look really blue or you try some off the wall color like purple or green. Oh yeah, when you are trying to clear out the back be careful not to damage the outer lens. I scratched mine up a bit but you can't tell unless i showed you.

If you ever got stopped by cop for having clear rear blinker, why not say the orange piece is broken, or one of them is broken so you have to remove the other side to make them look even? Ours are old cars after all...

dont think that would work, because he would say "why not just put an amber bulb in?" I have mine amber in the back and I think it looks good, the only other color I would put is red. in my front corners I have the side marker and the small 194 bulb white and the front blinkers in the bumper are amber.

yea, I did the same thing, I broke out the yellow thing in the back blinker, and also the white thing that comes after it, and the white thing inside my backup lights, now it kinda looks like clear lights.
I also took the white plastic thing out from my front blinker lights, that was really easy, and it also looks better - like clear.
I have white lights with a blue hue in the front, and I put orange bulb in the back blinkers, cuz i don't know if white lights with a blue hue are legal.
