Please help me with procedure of replacing water pump!

Hey guys. I've owned my 91SE 5spd for almost a year and a half, but I'm just now getting to know it better. I have 130K and my water pump and thermostat needs a replacement, like yesterday. Today, I'm finally going to do this myself. I've purchased a Haynes manual, but it doesn't say which way to get to it. The only thing I'm not sure of, is how to go about replacing the water pump. Is it easier to take it out from the bottom or top? I have a set of 3 ton and 6 ton jack stands, so it's no problem to tackle it from the bottom if that is the easier way. I do have the VG motor, correct? Thanks so much.

Frank

Yes, you have a VG engine. The Haynes manual does go into good detail about this procedure - at least the one I have does. The water pump is located under the timing belt cover. It's probably easiest to access from the top.
