Went to the "KC" meet at Mo-Kan dragway today and pulled off my new best time.. (I'm in the left lane on both runs)
http://www.ee.utulsa.edu/~mblehm/pic.../timeslips.jpg

check out the R/T on that loss.. That was against Dave B on one of his better runs of the day.. VEs CAN hold their own against 4th and 5th gens! There was an 02SE there that "only" ran a 14.995 on his best run

My R/Ts were .5650, .5651, .601, .8501 (the timer guy hit the lights about 2 after I staged and I was still at friggin IDLE when I looked up and saw yellows!)
and the .4995 on the redlight.. ALMOST nailed it!

That is true, you don't get a whole lot closer to a perfect reaction time than that.

Nice times, what was the difference in driving from the 2 runs. On the right timeslip you lost 2mph and ran 2 tenths slower. On that run with Dave B it seems he traps 1mph better till the finish line. Given his mods you did very well .

Great times. I believe he only has a CAI and UDP and Dave B has everything made besides boost.

Dave has everything made besides boost, b pipe, and ECU. he was whining about most of them today...

some people did horribly at the track, others did great (i.e. ME!).. most of the other people I talked to there were all running about 1/2 sec slow.. several mustangs, Dave B, Travis (4th gen auto that's run 14.8 in KC ran consistent 15.3 today)

hmmm, mebbe I'll have to go back pu to KCIR and run me a nice mid-14 pass.

My ETs and traps weren't really as consistent as I would think.

I ran (in chrono order):
15.5 @ 90.8, with a 2.42 60' (VTCs grounded, hot engine, first run of the day),
15.11 @ 92.72, with a 2.33 60'
15.10 @ 91.7, with a 2.26 60'
14.99 @ 93.12, with a 2.296 60'
15.08 @ 92.74, with a 2.292 60'

The best part was ripping the pi$$ out of some new Rustang BOSS and GTs because they kept sleeping at the light.

by next month I should have my AASCO flywheel and ACT clutch done. Hopefully I'll be in the 14's.

I don't want to find out until my flywheel and clutch is done. I also have to order my CAI because I have the Stillen pop-charger and it won't do as much as a CAI. Hopefully the low 14's

it's all about the driving. some people ran 14s bone stock. others run high 15s stock.

one of the guys at the track in a '02 SE ran mid 15s most of the day and finally squeaked out a 14.995 on his last run. those things run low 14s with a good driver and track. there's lots of issues to consider.

How hard were you shifting? Full on clutch dumps w/ no lift on the pedal? Nice times Matty!

not TOO hard..

I launched at about 3000 using Bryan H's method.. dump it and let the engine bog, then floor it. pretty easy on the clutch, minimal wheel spin..

even with that, I could still hear the tires spinning all the way through first a bit, then I barked 2nd HARD and did a fairly easy 2-3 shift. (I'm a little wary of that one since that's how I shattered my 2nd tranny.)
on my 14.99, I don't remember if I held out 3rd gear through the end or shifted to 4th..

Yeah I've seen the same thing, 02SE running 15.0, I told the guy that the 02SE should be able to run 14.7, but I guess a lot has to do with altitude.

BTW, Nice runs Matt

Hey Diego, the track on LongIsland will be open in March www.limotorsportspark.com Its actually pretty close, $45 to run as many times, their never too busy. Plus they dont require a helmet unless your in the 13's or something.

Keep up the good work Matt. We're still going to have to get together sometime, I think I'm on the verg of getting all my performance issues knocked out. Now if I can just talk my wife into buying me some wheels for my birthday.

Nice run! I think you are losing about 2 tenths just b/c of altitude. Aren't you at 1000'?

Yeah I know, the thing is they kinda have a monopoly over here. They are the only track on the Island, and you'd have to travel almost 2hours and cross like two bridges to get to the next track. So between gas and tolls it pretty much evens out. Also this track isn't too busy so you can get in lots of runs. There are a lot of ghetto tracks out their and this one isn't too bad. What am I gonna do, I guess deal with it.

:witness:

yeah, my 60ft times were horrible... 2.4 and 2.5.....once i even had a 3.0 60ft

Matt93SE's car sounds awesome...not talking about his stereo either...well his engine note sounded good going down the track...i don't know about that diesel-like ticking...

as soon as i learn how to launch at the strip, I'll be able to get lower than a 14.99

That was my first time at the track...I sucked...

on my 14.99 run, I had MAD wheelhop...

oh, matt, it's a 2003, not a 2002....but what's the difference...I guess you beat a car 10 years newer, not a car 9 years newer...

nice racing man...I should have let one of the drag vets drive my car to see what it could really do...

He's got stuff in the works I'm sure

Also got a competition caliber system and suspension and braking upgrades out the wazoo.

I was just sayin he's pullin good times for the actual 'go' mods he has (thus far)...

Well I've added an intake and a UDP, so the engine isn't "stock" anymore.
the brakes don't even come close to stock.. neither does the suspension. I'm not using "Factory" seats anymore, plus the stereo, so it's not stock...
I've beefed up the frame, so it's not stock.. I've got a dash kit too, so the dash isn't "stock"..
I've also added about 60lb of dynamat to the car, so it doesn't even sound like the same POS it did a year ago..

so it's not exactly "stock".
