Speakers, continued

I need lots of help. 90 Maxima NOT the Bose. I had a nice JVC unit installed and the factory 4" rears are being used. Installer told me that the rears have their own amp. Sounds pretty good. My kid picked up Kenwood 6 x 9's. I assume the rear amp is the silver clored unit visible near the rear speakers. Two questions: How do I install the 6 x 9's back there? Everyone insists they'll fit. How do I access those holes? Looks to me like they have to be dropped through from the top? How to disassemble rear area? Second, should I disable and bypass that factory amp? I jerry-rigged on of the Kenwoods while I held it in my hand at the open trunk, using the factory amp, and it sounded pretty good. Any feedback appreciated.

the best thing to do is go to a junk yard and see if they will sell you the bose brackets for the rear. The bose brackets will allow you to put the 6x9s in. You bolt the speakers up to the brackets and it bolts up the the deck lid.

Then I would by pass the amp.

good luck

AWWwwww man......where do I begin??? First you need to remove the back seats (the bootm piece then the top piece of the back seat). Then remove the third brake light. Then Remove the back cover that has the speaker covers on it. Then you have your back speakers visable and removeable. The stock speakers are 6 1/2 inches. In order to get the 6x9 speakers in you will need to get the bose speaker plastic housing that is bottom mount. I would recomend that you get rid of that amp for the rear speakers. It is only about 25 watts the most. Try buying a chiltons or a haynes manual on the 3rd gen maxima. You might have a lot of questions answered.

Soloacoustic- You may want to check out a local car audio shop. They may have a bracket that you can use to install the 6X9's without fishing around through a Junk yard. They will also have any plug adaptors or peices you may need. Good Luck.
