Crazy security system! HELP!!

This one is messed up. Its like 5 below zero this morning and when i opened the trunk from the outside with my key, the factory alarm went off! Now its doing the same thing, even though its warmed up. I'm recharging my battery to see if its that, but any other thoughts???

Thanks!

only thin gI can think of it mabey you didnt turn the key all the way, or it was too cold to make contact but I know a couple of times Ive unlocked my doors and I didnt turn the key all the way but enough to unlock the doors and the stock alarm went off.

Well I don't know if this helps, but when I lock all the doors with the trunk closed and then close the doors, the security system arms normally. When the doors are closed and locked and the trunk is still open, the security light is blinking, but when I shut the trunk the light doesn't stay solid for the normal 30 seconds, it just goes right off and the system doesn't arm. THIS COLD SUCKS!!

bump

I fully charged my battery and it still goes off, so i am stumped. It still has yet to go over 25 degrees in like 6 days so i'm hoping it just fixes itself once it warms up. Until then, anyone with an idea on whats wrong...?

Try this......

Open the trunk and look on the support for the trunk on the drivers side. There should be some wires running along it. The problem is because the trunk is opening and closing so many times the wires somtimes break inside the plastic insulation check to see if the wires are still in tact.
By the way I didn't even know that the alarm was not supposed to go off in that situation. I thought that you had to open the doors first to disarm the factory alarm before you open the trunk. Ryan
