it arguable but for a quick answer the VE has 190 hp and the VG has 160hp

you can tell by a few ways one quick way is

89-91 se = VG engine
89-94 gxe VG engine
92-94 se VE engine

the VE is DOHC also

VE is definitely faster because of the design of the engine.

*cough DOHC cough*

But the VG is actually a lot faster than what the most of the VE boys will tell you. Conversely, it is also a bit slower than what some of the VG will tell you. But if I can smoke a V6 Stang for most of a 1/4 in my VG 5-speed, It's all good.

But if the VG is auto than your screwed!
I love my VG like every other max owner out there but the auto tranny sucks!
I would have happily preferred my car in a 5 speed.
but that's my opinion

Yup, I can attest to that low end. You have to love torque, as long as you know how to keep that torque steer in line.

You'll have fun smoking a lot of things off the line with that, trust me. Plus, im sure there's a couple mods you can do to the tranny, I know the VE boys do a valve body recalibration or something to their autos to make em faster, so you might want to look into that. Besides, stock on stock, auto VGs only average like a half second slower than a 5-speed.

Just have fun and happy modding.
