Axle problem?

On my passenger side front, there is a clicking whenever i turn the wheel. I think it is a axle problem, meaning that i have to replace it. I have been doing work on motorcycles and bacis stuff on cars. I was just wondering how hard it is to replace an axle? Does anyone have instuctions online that i can look at? And the best place to order one from.

Thanks for your help guys and ladies.

Ive had my axles replaced on both sides (paid $150 for labor and parts) but i never did it myself. But I have had the axle out before to change clutch. Its not very hard as long as you know what you are doing. Slide it out and slide new one in, that is once you take the hub and other stuff off first. Good Luck!

After changing the axle myself, I would never pay anyone to do it again. As long as you know what you're doing it's just a matter of taking it apart and putting it back together correctly.

I was working under my car on the y-pipe and noticed that my outer CV boot was blown on the drivers side. I went and priced out the new axle and boots and it was cheaper for my mechanic to do the work for me. It cost me about 175 bucks which included some other work. I needed it fixed and really didn't have the time to do it myself, but if you do go for it.

alxe replacement instructions

Hey, I removed both my axles on my old GXE and also just replaced my passenger side axle on my SE. It's not real hard. There is a online chiltons manual link located at:
http://www.cybrrpartspro.com/Chilton...961m/8961.HTML
and a write up by "Matt93SE" located at:

I would highly reccommend spraying a generous amount of penetrating oil (kroil or wd-40) on all the hardware you need to take off a few days prior to doing the job!! Especially on the "support bearing bracket" on the passenger side cause usually the axle is rusted solid to the bracket(I had to break them apart with a chisel and hammer). Also make sure you break the axle nut with the car on the ground before you jack it up(it makes it much easier). It's your judgement call on replacing the tranny seals, I never have and I haven't had a leak yet, but that might just be luck.

I bought a rebuilt axle from NAPA for about $90.00 after core exchange. It's lifetime guranteed just as long as you don't intsall a turbo or a major mod like that. I usually stay away from rebuilt products but a new one is around $600 from Nissan. And I also know someone who has had rebuilt NAPA axles for quite a while and has had no problems.
