Wire Harness - Read!

Headlight wire harness...a very important part under your hood.

OK...I got the HID "LOOK" headlights.. AKA Plaza Xenon. When I bought the bulbs (9004) I MADE sure and asked the salesman if they would hurt my wire harness. Being the average businessman, of course he said NO THEY WON'T.

I check them out today cuz my left headlight quit working. AND OMG they were burnt to hell. A big U shaped melt was formed in the harness plug. SO I go back to Sound Sensations (where I bought 'em) and b*tch the hell out of them saying those bulbs could have caught my whole engine/car on fire and I demand you (them) to buy my new harnesses. They look tweaked out and don't know what to do. One guy says "oh this is very common on maximas", and another one says.."this is the SECOND time this has happened w/ our bulbs" So they talk to each other and end up offering me a $100 upgraded wire harness kit (w/ relays) for $15. I couldn't beat that. I installed the upgraded harness and my lights are brighter and they both work. WATCH OUT FOR THOSE TYPES OF BULBS!!!

I'll post pics later

the burnt harness was not a defect of the bulbs themselves....it's just that they draw alot more current than the standard bulbs.....but since the O.E.M maxima wiring harness is extremely thin it causes the wire and the actual plug to burn.....i run a stereo shop here in tx and when a customer wants xenon bulbs i look at their harness and make sure that it could take the extra current draw....if not i warn them beforehand. Craig Brace has a really good "how to" on making an upgraded harness w/ 14 gauge wire. Just look at his homepage.

so did you learn your lesson? check the wattage of the bulb. if it's higher than stock. you'll more than likely burn the harness...

actually most of those cheap bulbs dont give that much more light, Ive had bulbs like them, and compared to the stock bulbs they are not much brighter. Now a good set of bulbs is a different story, D-sta's friend John (forgot his .org name) gave me some PIAA bulbs and they are so much better than the stock bubls and way better than the cheap "hyperwhite" bulbs.

it was a joke

if u think i'm oppresive then you don't know a damn thing about the rest of the mods.

also if you actually had a thought process and actually researched the bulbs...blue tint on the bulbs makes you actually "see" less on the road and also the tint actually lowers the lumens (light output). so you think you're getting brighter but you're really getting less light and killed your wire harness in the meantime.

well you probably didnt need a whole OEM harness, you can just buy the plugs for like $3.50 but for an upgraded harness (hopefully you got a whole harness and not just plugs) $15 isnt that bad

6 harnesses

LOL I think i might have the record in changing those damn harnesses i changed them about 6 times both sides. Those damn nokya's finally decided to change them cuz even the bulb terminals melted. So i decided to buy a apc upgrade harness and ended up buying new nokyas and finally its works fine. Now all that was a waste cuz im doing my 200sx projector lights conversion so thats gonna be another time consuming mod.

So, the new harness works fine for you now w/ those Nokya bulbs? Because, I thought about getting that, but, I didn't know if it actually worked or not?

BTW: Is this the harness that you got?

oh, i guess matrix is still in the works...

If you dont know how to install it...I can tell you - holla back.

You'll notice SOME brightness difference...but not like OMG THAT'S BRIGHT!

it's cuz they're running off your battery once you get the upgraded harness...how much did you pay for it again?

Ok, cool. Did you run into any problems when you installed your new harness? Or, did you install a new one? But, anyways, I paid about $50 w/ shipping for mine?

That's funny... because going to that site, I see only 2 cars. And wouldn't you know it??? They're

You could make a harness for yourself for a fraction of the cost of any of those.
