any one tint their own windows???
every car i've ever owned has had tinted windows and i really feel naked w/o them. since the maxima is my commuter/spare car, i don't really feel like spending $180 for tints. so i bought 25% tints and a tint kit. anyone ever do this themselves? have any tips for me? TIA

i've tinted a car once and because of the patience required i probably will never do it again.
it's all about the squegee! you have to be patient and gently use the squegee to squeeze the water out from in between the window and the tint. good luck! and take your time, it's not easy.

tips:
clean EVERYTHING!!! even that weatherstriping part that seals up the glass. when u spray down the soap mix dirt comes out of everything.
if you have existing tint...make sure to clean all of it off. use a white (teflon) scrubbing pad.
also i highly recommend getting professional quality tint. i'm not talking about the off the rack in pep boys special. the pro stuff sticks better and looks better when it's done.
make sure u have a clean area to cut tint...remember..clean clean clean.
sharp knives/blades are a must. use a new blade for every car..if not every other window. having a blade snag on tint when you're cutting just means more wasted material.
get some good squeegees...big and small. big for the big areas and small to finess it. teflon hardcards are quite useful and they can be trimmed to suit your needs.
if you'll be doing just one car and that's it...i say go have someone do it professionally. if you want to do it for a few cars or really want to do it on the side/learn how to do it then prepare to spend $.
to cut 2 windows at the same time take two piece of tint and lay them on top of each other (tint to tint) and cut. you'll get both left and right side with one cut...but if u mess up u just wasted twice the amount of tint.

Sorry about the triple post! I tried to send it and I got no response, so I stopped and tried again and still nothing. Then finally I got a response server busy. I guess it did send each time.
I agree with what one of the guys said, make sure you really clean the glass. You can also get a little kit for a couple of bucks with a squeege or however you spell it, its worth it!
