Will anything happen if I hook up a fan in my cold air intake thats is controled by the gas pedal, or is that just a stupid idea?

Before everyone flames you to death for asking such a question welcome to the board. The consensous on this board is that it doesn't work. There are several companies that supposedly sell just such products, I think the biggest was GE or a subsidsury of GE (correct me if I'm wrong) Their application was for big diesel rigs which might be more practical.

There are a lot of so called electric turbo chargers for sale on ebay. Look up E-charger and you should find some stuff.

The problem is just any old fan will not push the air like a Turbo or super charger. You need one big fat fan and it is gonna take a whole lot of current to produce any benifits. Theorhetically it is possible to make a product that would work but who knows if it is practical.

One last thing, I don't know of anyone on this board who has actually used such a device. So most of what people will say will be their opinion, although it is probably a very educated opinion so don't discard what is said. In the end you gotta find someone who has actually used such a device and find out first hand if it did anything.

In other words, buy one, put it on a max and dyno it and then report back to the board on what you found. Even then most people on the board probably wouldn't believe the dyno results anyway, especially if it showed any significant gains.

newbies are coooooooooooooooool, that might be the funniest thing i have ever read on the org...
- the electic fans will work nothing like a turbo and a super charger because it can't keep ANY compression in the engine.

If you look at the "How old is everyone on here" thread that is quite true. But Chris... if you weren't looking for some sort of supercharger effect then why do you want to put a fan in there??? As it stands if you put a dinky little fan in there, it would actually HURT performance by creating a lot of turbulence and resistance.

Or how about the original poster taking 5 min. to search and never having to make the post in the first place. Or maybe some people who don't have any idea what they are talking about not getting the joke?
