Installing speed sensor

Hey guys...

I have a 91 GXE and will be installing a speed sensor in it soon. Anyone have a write-up on how this is done? I did a quick search and could not find one.

Thanks,

Jay

It's located in the tranny, close to the oil filter. It has a round black plastic cap and is held in with two screws. All you do is removed the screws, and pull it up. It's a bit tricky because the gear has angled teeth. I was going to do mine as well, but it looks like my problem is in the cluster instead.
Good luck.

How can you tell if it's the speed sensor or the gauge? Also, any idea on cost of a speed sensor?

Thanks!

If the speedometer needle jumps around eratically, or goes over to max. right, it's probably the guage. That's my problem. I think if the needle won't move at all, it's likely the sensor. I don't know the cost of the sensor, maybe $80-$100?
