Tranny probs - fun fun fun

Hi,

My tranny is acting weird. It sometimes locks in a gear all the sudden. It usually helps just to shut down the engine and then start the car again.

The speedometer is also malfunctioning going over to the right side sometimes and doesnīt show the correct speed. From what Iīve read this may be because of a broken speed sensor, right? Can the speed sensor be the crook behind the tranny problems too? Or is it two separate problems?

The tranny problem seems to come in intervals, it may work fine for a while and then the problems come back. When the tranny is working itīs shifting fine and itīs not slipping at all.

One time occasion:
The car wouldnīt move no matter which gear I used, I then restarted the car several times and finally it worked, never had that problem since.

Does the tranny problems sound like electrical problems?
If so, how should I proceed? I donīt want to change tranny or rebuild.

All help appreciated.

Thanks!

Cheers,
John

Mine does the same thing. It sticks in 3rd gear. I rebuilt it 12,000 miles ago. When you turn mine off and back on it acts fine. I believe it to be an electrical problem. Let me know if you figure it out, and I will do the same.

Well I just got mine with 100K and seems like the previous owner never changed the Tranny fluid, So mine sometimes just sits there like its in neutral, I am guessing that it will be Ok after I do a fluid and filter change.
any idea or help or suggestion will be appreciated

thanks
