Fuse or What?????

Ok, I need help. I get in my car yesterday after work , start it up and turn on my lights and my left turnsignal lights up when I push on the brakes. Then all of a sudden all my dash lights turn off. So now I have no dash lights or interior lights of any kind, excluding dome lights. But whats really weird is when I turn on my signal my clock light and display on my cd player blinks with my signals. And if I'm turning left and I touch my brakes the left signal light just stays on and stops blinking. Whats the deal? The only light thats lighting up on my gauge cluster now is my ABS light, which won't go off (3 months running now). Could this be a problem with my turn signal wand, it makes a clicking sound when ever I turn the wheel and has made this sound since I bought the car in Dec. Any help is appreciated.

dude, you need to take that car back to whomever you bought it from and shove it up their a$$.

you've got some serious electrical problems with that car and you need to get them taken care of. there's an auto electric place about 21st and memorial, behind the walgreen's on the SE corner of the intersection. see if they can help you with it.

sounds kinda of like my problem

i had a similar problem. When i hit my brakes the corner lights would come on , and lights would all dim and the radio would cut out. i found the problem to be in the tail lights. some of the wires going into the assembly where the bulb plugs in were corroded and or falling apart. make sure all the screws are tightened on the taillight bulbs, and check there connection. I bet this is your problem.

Man, you read my mind. I feel like giving this bad boy away right about now. This car is really pi$$ing me off, as if the studdering and stalling wasn't enough.

I think I one step closer. I found out that I don't have taillights either and that my taillight fuse keeps blowing. I checked all the connections to the assembly and tightened bulbs, but now I need to pick up some new fuses. But one question, when replacing my tailight fuse the 2nd time, I found that I'm missing a fuse for "ENG CONT" do I need this fuse? What is it for? I've been aparently driving without it since I bought this golddigger.

hmmmm

well if it states that it requires a fuse then put one in it. what you need is a haynes or chiltons manual. spend the 15 bucks and get it, you can track down shorts alot better with a wiring diagram. also check the back of the brake pedal, there is a sensor down there.

I've found the Chilton's to have much better wiring diagrams. I had an older Haynes (covering 85-91) and a FSM for my 87, but when I got a 91 recently, I realized the Haynes has only a couple of pages of wiring diagrams. I bought a Chiltons (covers 85-92) off of Ebay for $11.50 shipped, and it's much better. There is a newer version of the Haynes that covers 85-92, but I'm not sure if it has any more wiring diagrams than the one I have. I would recommend a Chiltons it if you're only going to get one or the other.

Go for the Chilton, I have a Haynes and it sucks for those of us with VEs! Didn't know the difference when I bought it. I had a similar lighting problem where the dash lights would dim or cut off along with the brake lights. "The shop" found it to be a burnt cluster of wires going to my signal lights...this also missed up my cruise control...anyway, cost me $140 bucks to have them replace the cluster. Good luck!

Update:

I think I found my problem. I cleared out my trunk. Pulled up the carpet and board underneath. And found a puddle of water underneath my spare. (apparently the snow that slide off my back window and fell in my trunk this winter.) Well, for some reason my Max has a wirering harness for towing which was submerged in the puddle with an exposed wire and melted plastic around that wire. Well, now I'm trying to dry out my trunk and that wire harness because my fuse keeps blowing. Is there anything else I should do??

the engine cont fuse controls a lot of stuff inside the car if i remeber correctly. i removed it once and i think the seat belts didn't work along with a few other items.
