I was looking at these gauges...

...and I don't see how u can remove the needle from the stock gauges? I have been inside the GXE and SE cluster and those needles are in there for good. Now this company states that Nissan has a way to remove the needles and that it is in their install instructions. Does anyone know how to exactly remove the needles without breaking them?? I also know that the overlays need to be recalibrated. What does that mean, and how is it done?? Now another thing is that the stock GXE gauges glow green. I really don't want my white overlays to glow green, so what would I need to do to make them glow white or blue for that matter?? Obviously I will need to change the 4 bulbs, but what about the green needles??

Sorry for the long series of questions, but I like to know what I'm getting into before I even start.

Thanks,
ICE

it's a shame the white gauges look sooooo damn good (especially at night time) to swap them out

I actually work for nopi and I had a chance to open the package and look at the instructions on how to remove the needles. It says that you have to get a spoon and just pry it up, under the center piece( the fat round part). I know it works because I changed the gauges in my max.

I think it looks a lot better if you get the faces off an 89-91 SE since it has black (numbers) on white instead of transparent/white on white. Just my opinion though.

As for the needles, I think you have to rotate them counter clockwise X times....mark the spots....etc.....I'm not sure. I think prying them might break them, and needles are really expensive.

Has anyone gotten the overlays and successfully changed the green color?

Green --> White

The bulbs behind the cluster are a clear bulb with a green plastic casing on them. The bulbs are style 194 and they are easily removed. Simply twist the little connector and pull it out. Then remove the bulb out of the socket and replace it with a Xenon 194 bulb. The Xenon bulbs will give you the exact same color as the blue coated bulbs in the SE guages and are 2x brighter! Im not sure where you can find them, but I am able to order them through my local parts shop. They are the same bulbs that are used in the Door lights!! I have done this and it is amazing. I will post a pitcure of what it looks like at night soon. Good Luck.

hmm.. how bright do you think regular moodlight blue 197 bulbs would be in the dash? i have em in my doors, but i dunno if they wouldmake enough light to see the guages at night, what do you think? if they can be seen it would look hella cool!
