rear brakes... my rear brakes are melting

Ok, i would normaly do a search (thats what I'v been doing the past few months) but as we all know its not working

-i just had new rear pads put on a week ago..refinnished the rotors too
-problem: my brake pedal feels... soft, very soft, i seems that i have to push the peadel further to stop, It felt great at first but after a few miles of driving on the new brakes it started to feel like this.

any idea's what it could be?
peace

did you have your break lines inspected? Did you flush your system? Check the resevuar(sp) to make sure there is enought brake fluid.

It sounds like you have a leak somewhere, and it might not be related to the new pads. My '92 developed a leak in the brake line that runs along the driver's side of the car. The plastic cover that covers the lines collects all the crap from the roads (snow, mud, salt) and rots the line. My line wasn't leaking bad enough to cause a puddle or anything, but fluid was seeping through all of the rust.
Good luck.

frozen caliper...when you go for a short drive you'll notice your rear brakes are very very hot. you can smell them burning. also you'll see the rotor turning blue...sign of overheating.

unless you have a very mushy pedal bleeding is not an issue now...(considering the brakes were installed properly).

NO Black fluid is bad. Sounds like you need a flush dude.

Black...ugh. You should bleed all your brakes until clear fluid runs out of them...you've now flushed out all the old black fluid and added nice clean clear fluid. It's quite easy to do...get a friend/spouse/lover to help (easy if you trust the helper) or get a one man bleeding kit (not as easy) or some speedbleeders (easiest by far).

I highly suggest getting a competent person to work on your brakes. sounds like they're not done right, and if you've got to ask questions on a forum about it, then someone else should be putting their hands on the car, not you.
