kyb strut users.

I was reading a 4th gen thread started by sudds review springs struts etc. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....5&pagenumber=3 and an individual using the combo of gr2 intrax which he says lowers 2.2 inches said his gr2 were destroyed after 10k miles. On third gen intrax lowers it about 1.7 right? Owners of gr2 what springs do yall have and how many miles have you had them for ? I think I will be happy with that combo but I dont want to replace the struts again any time soon. 93 gxe with 120k stock wheels for a while. arizona roads~some of the best. car is daily driver not any racing just for the look w/o losing much comfort. other suggested options for sub 500. current kyb intrax owners what would you rather have if anything

I just got Intrax and KYB a couple weeks ago. I got them because that was all I could afford right now since I did so many things at once. I am going to save up to get Koni. I am thinking of buying one here and there until I have all of them and then put the KYBs on my 92 which has stock springs. I know I will not have 10k miles on them by the time I do the swap since I hardly drive the car so mine should be fine.

in my opinion if you drive the car a lot then go ahead and save up for the Koni and be done with it.

I feel if you go with kyb's, you shouldnt go lower than 1.5" which the eibachs do.....at least thats what i feel. any lower and i think you'll ruin the struts before long. I have eibachs and kybs and have had them for about 14k miles.

I just put on the kyb's the gr2 the strut cartridges with factory springs. The springs are original ones no probs!! I like the setup truethfully, I dont really like lowering my car escpecially here in NYC ***gettaboutit!!!! Ya suspension is already putting in overtime and now you want to lower that?? You will be looking like Fred Flinstone here!! The kyb's are lifetime, if you have a impact gun and a spring compressor you can change em up yaself!! Good luck though

i dont get your question...i dont exactly have that "slammed look, but from the front, it's pretty decent and low enough for me. check my page, there might be some pics there and you can see the wheel gap and compare to yours. Thats the best i can do.

lophix I always hear peopel say that the eibachs lower it about an inch and if I read your first reply it sounded like they go lower than 1.5 "you shouldnt go lower than 1.5" which the eibachs do" So that is what I want and would work but maybe i just read your response wrong...basically how much does eibach lower? what model ? thanks

I cant remember the exact drop, but i believe it's either 1.2" or 1.5". Either way, it isnt a severe drop.

kyb's

Eibach's drop 1.2 on 3rd gens. KYB GR-2's are only warrantied if used on an application of 1.5 inches or less. IF I'm not mistaken only Eibach's and stock springs are officially "okay" to use with KYB gr-2's.

I've had KYBs on my '89 since October. No real complaints, they feel like a stock replacment. My impression is that they will not last that long in a lowered situation. I should have put Tokicos on.

when you say lowered situation do mean with the eibachs? or even lower as with the intrax or s/t ....i plan on driving the car only about 20-30k miles and I hope that that the gr2 will last that long with either intrax or the dirt cheap sprints that lower 1.8 for about 140. d-sta has had kyb spring combo it for over a yr without any problems so far. I will get the front and rear sway ans bars and strut brace to improve drive as well.

I've always had tokico's I have never had KYB Gr-2's. I am planning on getting GR-2's once my tokico die....it's going to be a while.

I thought that the tokico's were a better sturt than the Gr-2's and the koni's are the best of all. Do you not like your toks?

i saw that too and was wondering.."when they die" ?? seeing as the stockers lasted at least an average of 8years, the toks shouldnt go out that easily unless severe abuse is put on them.

The Toks on my '93 were noticably softer within a year (11K). My '92SE will get Koni's next month.

But don't you need to cut out your old sturts from the mounts and put the Koni's in in order for them to fit?

Don't get me wrong the tokico are very good struts. The KYB's are very good for the price and I've heard that they're just as good as the tokico's but if I have enough cash I will be getting the Koni's.
