ugh , i think not having the shims on weakened the piston boot and let let dust into it , when i went to turn it clockwise it start falling apart .. SO what should i do now ... just drive with the ripped piston boot till it seizes ??

I am pretty sure that you can get new boots for the calipers. I have 1 bad calper that sticks too. I am going to replace the caliper all toghther.

i don't have one on my rear passenger side. It makes a rattling noise whenever I go over bumps. It has been relatively quiet this winter(closed windows). I was crusing around today and it annoyed the hell out of me. I don't think they are expensive to replace.

I've been missing the passenger side one for about a year, no problems.

Bah... the shims don't do squat for that. just rebuild the caliper and be done with it. take about an hour for the rebuild, 30 mint for removal and install.
