Well. I took my MAX to the trans shop this morning for a clutch and rear main oil seal quoted at $550. I get a call later from the shop saying i need 3 new trans mounts, and a new master/slave cylinder. The mounts are believable but im not to sure of the master/slave replacment. I mean come on my brakes work fine. theres no visibal leaks. Oh well i did it anyway. it cant hurt the car, and I plan on keeping it for a while to so I guess I would have had to do it sooner or later.

Ah nope. If you press the brake, you use the brake master clyinder and the equivlent of a slave cylinder on the calipers. If you press the clutch pedal, you use the master clinder for the clutch and presses fluid though the slave mounted on the tranny.

You probably had the CLUTCH master and slave replaced. Probably a good thing anyway.

Sounds like you got a good quote on the clutch and rear main. I paid $538 to have a shop install a clutch, parts I brought them and my flywheel resurfaced.
