Let me check and I'll get back to you.
I know they also sell chromoly piston rings or something chrome theyre supposed to be higher quality so I;m going with those

chromoly pistons rings?? I think you mean rods ...thats some pretty custom stuff for Advance to carry..."offshelf" VE internals, thats hard to believe, make sure its for your car, before you shell out the cash.

yeah they last a long time but are hard on the cylinder walls. I had some in a 350 and the walls were worn more than you would think for the miles on the motor but it didnt smoke or anything...I pulled it down to swap heads.

I have had other people tell me this too.

so they actually make them...wow, but it would seem that the cons far outweigh the pros. I mean since the rings are the strongest seal between the walls and the piston and with chromoly material constantly rubbing against the wall and all. I'm guessing guys using these aren't your everyday streetable cars?? what are the advantages, I guess higher strength and longer lasting seal for those super high power motors??

more power. and they are not hard on piston walls, at leasty not like you think, you will never see bad side effects from the rings. but they give you better compression.

I agree, the moly coating alows less resistance, and longer life (ie. compression).

You guys talking about CHROME MOLY rings or rings that have a moly coating? Two different things.

I was talking about chrome rings (over plate chromium) which I was saying were a little harder on the walls than stock or some other rings and that may have just been in my head since the walls looked more worn thay I THOUGHT they should have been. It had good compression though so like I said it may have been in my head

It sounds like they are talking about just moly coated rings...some manufactures call it plasma-moly some call it dura-moly and there are a few others probably but I think they are all the same basic thing.

as far as "chromoly" rings go I think that a lot of people use that term for the chrome rings.

another thing to consider is that these coatings are only for the top ring.
