3rd geners interested in gauge pods

K mods please do not move due to the fact that I am gauging interest if 3rd geners want gauge pods made specifically made for our cars. Thanks moderators

Here is a portion of the email I got from gaugepods.com

"Thanks for your inquiry. Read on.....

Pre-sale pricing will include painting. Pricing will be determined after receipt of OEM pillar.

Most of our products range from $40-$60. After project is completed pricing will increase.

Shipping charges extra - Currently: $5.99 US, $10.99 Canada, $15.99 International"

"Size of gauge hole diameter wanted (usually 2 1/16" and/or 60mm). Note: some models may not take

the 60mm size do to pillar limitations.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:

Rough mock-up will be made and sent to project leader.

* Place on pillar.

* Check for clearances and proper angle of gauge pods.

* Note any changes needed on mock-up and document on paper.

* Sign and date changes or okay mock-up as is.

* Return to Lo-tek.

Mold-making process - approx 4-5 weeks

Initial production run - approx 3-4 weeks

Finishing and shipping - approx 1 week after receipt of product.

*******IMPORTANT********

PLEASE GIVE AN ESTIMATE BUT DO NOT PROMISE A CONCRETE DATE TO YOUR GROUP!"

Let me know what everyone thinks and if this is worth pursuing!! I am definitely in!! It may take some time but this will be a perfect fit for our automatic seatbelts and may even be able to have a 3 pod which would be awesome!! Let me know

Lotek did the design and final product for the gauges in my eclipse, and we did a group buy on them at Club3G. Their stuff is top-notch.

This is a pic of the lotek pod in my eclipse - I was in on the first batch of group buys. The fit was perfect. Well worth it to me, and I'd be in on this group buy.

kevin, if you go for this, just go for the 3 pod because I think you will get the most orders, and we already have the integra 2 pod. I would be down if they can make the 3 pod, but I must say it will be hard to get those orders. Let me know a price on 10 and a price on 15 because I can re-sell them and that will cut the order in half. If you can drop the price for 10 or 15 (mabey just increase the other 15 orders by a fwe dollars or what ever

Good idea but hate to admit that, sadly, we probably dont have 30 regular mod-ready 3rd genners.

85% of guys on here now are 16 yr olds with hand me down POS's looking to get some more mileage out of em before their cars die.

See if they'll cut some slack on that minimum because I dont think we can get 30.

yup I agree with James, 30 is a lot. I won't be getting none of this until I get some boost if I ever do. Good luck anyway.

Also remember in a year or so, those 16 yr olds will get jobs and turn into full-fledged riceboys that NEED gagues for their otherwise stock Maximas! ;-)

[b]I'm in if they can do a 3-pod one with the top two as 2-1/16" and the bottom as a 2-5/8" [b]

I called the company and left a message so hopefully they will get back to me by tomorrow. It will be a 3 pod pillar or nothing is what I am getting from everyone. This can definitely be done if J says he will buy a lot and sell them! I should have all the info by tomorrow!! Lets cross our fingers. and I guess the most common size would be 2-1/16, Im not sure if they'll do the 2-5/8 on the bottom Matt but Ill ask. by the way nice seats!!!!

Has anyone checked with other retailers as well... CustomMaxima, MaxGT, etc. to see if they would be interested in purchasing for re-sale to meet or knockdown that 30 number?

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

I just talked to lotek! This is how it would work. I send my pillar to them and they do a mock pillar of how the pods would look, they would then send it back to me and I would get everyones approval. The thing is nothing goes into production until the 30 orders are in!! The cost for a full 3 pod pillar would be in the mid $40 range then add 5 or 6 bucks for shipping! More than likely it will be a full pillar replacement depending on when they look at my pillar and decide if it is possible to do a full pillar, almost all of there custom gauge pods are FULL PILLAR!!Their quality is top notch. I will be sending my pillar down this weekend and after they get it we will know how much it will cost and whether a 3 pod pillar is attainable. The man I talked to said there should be no problem doing a 3 pod pillar.

Also I just talked to Alex from southwestautoworks.com and he would be more than happy to buy a set of 10 pillars to help us attain the 30 minimum orders. So if J and ALex help us out we should have no problem getting these made. Please do not think that these pillars will be made and ready to go next month. As soon as the orders are filled the pods will begin to get made. The process takes a few months. If the orders are filled say within the next 3 weeks the pillars will be ready by mid summer. Guys please let me now if you are seriously interested! Thanks for listening and reading
More info to come in a few weeks
Kevin

put me in, why not, I need to spend more money on my damn car, I just calculated, and since I bought the damn thing I have spent over $11k, so whats another $50.

So no more fuzzy pillar if they make a full pillar?

If so, could they make a plastic pillar for the other side? to match?

Might look funny fuzzy, then plastic.

Full Pillar

You can count me in for that. My name is James, i'm new to the forum. I didn't know they had a 3rd Gen Forum for Maxima's. Kinda a relief that i'm not the only teen out there with a old Max hand me down trying to mod it out. But I like how it's going to be a full pillar 3 pod. Usually there are two. But if its under 50 i'll take it.

Even more important is the blinker fluid, you've gotta monitor that to make sure you have precise high speed blinks. Plus you gotta have the guages to check the pressure on your NOS. Since your car only tops out at about 140 you'll need NOS... 2 of the big ones...

I'd be in if I were going turbo...

*looks at long list of things to do*

Buuuut.... that's not likely to happen... any time soon at least...

Read his f***ing posts, moron! he painly said up top that he's got to send them one to make a copy out of, then they'll play mail tag until it's perfect, then they start mass production. how hard is it to read a few posts of information?

Re: Re: Re: Re: POD

Depends on how long it takes to get the pillar back to me and get everyones ok the after all the money is in (30 minimum orders) then they go into production. I'd have to say late june early July. This gives everyone some time to get together $50 or so bucks for a 3 pod replacemet pillar

not all 16 y/os have hand-me-down POSs. my '93 GXE is a hand-me-down, but i wouldn't consider it a POS. i'd definitely be in on the pod purchase and i am pretty sure that there are more than 30 3rd gen-ers out there who would be interested as well. if you look at how fast 3rd gen stuff is sold on ebay, one might realize the potential for selling large quantities of guage pods. there are certainly a number of 3rd gen-ers who have never heard of maxima.org and their only exposure to the sale of these guage pods would be if an entrepreneur among us bought up a bunch and sold them on a market such as ebay. just a thought...

Yeah very tru...can we get like a b1tch slap smiley that says "Use the search" (when it's back).

and VG93gxe does have a good point on people not knowing abot the .org, i've run across several people who work on their maxes and aren't on here, not a huge amount like some other models of cars, but still substantial, considering we all drive fou doors!
